BOTSALANO GAME RESERVE
Botsalano
Botsalano is located in open Kalahari thorn veld. It is used for the breeding of antelope species and other mammals for the stocking of reserves throughout the Province. There is an extensive network of roads which are accessible to motorists in most vehicles.
Location
This 5 800 ha game reserve is situated 18 km north from the Ramatlabama border post, west of Mahikeng, right off the Botswana border.
Climate
Generally mild to very hot, but winter nights can be extremely cold.
Wildlife
The Reserve has more than 2 000 “head” of animals and over 200 bird species are found in the Acacia and Karee woodlands and the extensive grasslands.
Activities
Activities include game and bird viewing as well as trophy hunting. Botsalano is one of the most prolific white rhino and antelope breeding grounds in the North West Province, as the veld is very conducive to breeding. It is also home to one of the oldest volcanic craters in the world, which extends through the park into Botswana.
Accommodation
This camp is not graded and has basic facilities. These units are Self Catering and Self Servicing for the duration of your stay. This camp has no electricity, all lights are powered by Solar power. Hot water is obtained by means of gas Geysers. Each tent has two beds each with linen and a sleeper couch (No Linen). A separate kitchen, fully equipped + Gas Stove, Fridge and freezer. No Towels are supplied.
Children age 2-12, Sharing with parents/adults (maximum 2 children) R 50.00 per child per night extra – Sleeper couch available in tent for this purpose only. (Supply own Linen for Sleeper Couch)
BUSH CAMPS
These camps have no hot water or electricity. One open-air shower and one open-air toilet are at each of the above camp sites. Lerako and Sentry Hill has a Stone-shelter, with a picnic table and a tap with running water. – Bring own tents. Camping equipment, etc.
R250.00 per night (Base 1-8 people) + Entrance Fee. {Additional persons pay R 20.00 p/p/p/n + Entrance Fee} – not exceeding total 12 persons.
(Tents + Caravans) – Basic Ablution facilities, with a donkey for hot water. R 100.00 per site per night {Base 1-4 Max people, per 1 tent or caravan + 1 vehicle, per site) + Entrance Fee. [Additional persons pay R 20.00 p/p/p/n + Entrance Fee} – not exceeding total 6 persons.
NB. No electricity is available at the sites. Bring own tents, Camping equipment, etc.
